The Martins Toys R Us Toyology Entry

The Martin Family Toyology Entry:

We have decided to review the VTECH Kiddizoom Camera.

We would put this toy in the category of Family Fun, due to the fact that it can be used on any occasion, inside or out, day or night (it has a flash) and whether rain or shine!

The VTECH kiddizoom camera comes in two colours, pink or blue, so appeals to both boys and girls age 3 years and over. Has a 2mp camera, LCD screen, interchangeable covers, PC disc and usb cable to upload your photos.

The best thing we found about the vtech kiddizoom was that it not only allows your children to take photos it also enables your children to record things too, which is brilliant if you have a budding Steven Spielberg amongst your clan! We found that our daughter Isobella (aged 5) enjoyed filming more, rather than taking photos as she could capture moments she found amusing and then enjoy playing them back to us (including one when mummy was tormenting daddy which was highly amusing in her eyes!) For a little video camera the quality is not that bad either!
Uncle Richard being eaten by a dinosaur!

There are also a wide variety of effects for both recording and photo taking such as effects which can alter your face in different ways, borders and masks, we have had many many hours of fun with this feature in particular and we feel this is the best part of the package, and everyone wanted to have a go!

There are also sound effects and frames you can use for recording too and a microphone so you can hear everything!

Next these cameras are well known for being tough enough for toddlers, which we have found very true, whilst Isobella has a delicate touch, Alfie (aged 3) is our little boy who loves to bash his toys around when being grumpy or even just for fun sometimes, so we are grateful that the camera is surrounded with a rubber coating! And I am happy to report that it hasn't been damaged so far!
Lastly there are a few games available to play on the camera (it really is more than just a camera!!!), the one we enjoyed in particular is called 'Dance with me' you can choose to play as a boy or girl but there is also the final option of a blank faced character in which you can take a photo of your face and play as yourself, particularly funny when you put daddy's face on it and make him dance!!

There are a few negatives i found such as the plastic packaging which the cameras come in, they are a pain to get into and the plastic packaging becomes quite sharp when cutting it so needs to be disposed of straight away, it would have been nice for it to be boxed for when its not in use and you have no spare batteries,
which brings me to my second negative, batteries - i advise to buy rechargeable batteries! as the camera eats them up so so quickly, and it can be very expensive in the long run due to each camera requiring 4 AA batteries each, my children love their cameras so much that they only get a couple of days use out of each set of batteries!
If i am being picky there is also a slight delay when taking photos so we do find that our little photographers miss those perfect captures quite often too but they do have fun in trying to capture it again!

Overall the cameras have been one of our families best buys, i love the fact that we can now capture our children's memories and not just our own!
